• These skills used to be handed down from grandmother to mother to daughter, but in today's busy technological digital world, these creative past-times are being over-looked  by the preferred preoccupation with one type of "screen" or another !

 

• Knitting, sewing, and crochét are  fantastic activities for children to engage in to improve fine motor skills and  eye-hand coordination. 

 

• They can experiment with different colour combinations and designs to create many items from simple accessories to fashion to home-ware pieces. 

 

• It teaches them to have patience and the discipline to practise newly learned skills, and gives them the gratifying experience of making something nice with their own hands from start to finish; which in turn gives them  a great sense of achievement and a boost in self-esteem and self-confidence. 

      They can say proudly : "I made it myself ! "
